University of Manitoba Chapter Hosts First-Ever Virtual Grand Rounds

Human Trafficking Victims in Manitoba Healthcare Settings - Poster.jpg

On May 13th, 2020, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, over 100 medical students, residents, and physicians from all over Canada gathered to learn about human trafficking via Zoom!

This event was organized by CAMSAHT Manitoba in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as part of their weekly Grand Rounds.

A panel of community experts from a variety of fields came together to share their insights on how to help victims of human trafficking by educating us on local resources, special considerations for trafficked children, and how we can have a positive impact as healthcare members. The panel included representatives from organizations including Inner City Women’s Ministries International, Klinic Community Health (Crisis Counsellor), Province of Manitoba (Sexual Exploitation Unit), and the Winnipeg Police Service (Counter Exploitation Unit).

We are grateful for the support and positive response received, and we hope to deliver many more events to help raise awareness and combat human trafficking in Manitoba.
