UBC Chapter Creates Course for Human Trafficking Awareness In Health Care
In December last year, the UBC CAMSAHT Chapter created a course for students studying health-related disciplines. They collaborated with valued experts in the Canadian anti-human trafficking world, forensic nurses Tara Leach and Tara Wilke. This four-hour voluntary course includes a pre-recorded lecture on human trafficking, case studies based on real cases, the Help Don't Hinder module, and a powerpoint. Forty UBC medical students signed up within the first couple of weeks, and UBC Chapter is beginning to distribute the course more widely, to nursing and pharmacy students as well.
Kirsten Roche, the new National Co-President says, “It was an honor to work with leaders in the field of anti-human trafficking work, to create this exciting new content that we hope will reach far and wide.”
